Will this work for hooking up HDMI devices to a monitor with a Displayport input?

Accepted Answer

This is the correct device for that. Some monitor configurations require an "active" adaptor like this one, especially when multiple monitors are being used. This adaptor is good for all situations.

Does this convert to HDMI 1.4, or 2.0; ie can you run at display at 4k & 60 at either 8 bit RGB or 4:4:4 chroma?

Accepted Answer

This can force HDMI 1.4b specification compliance to allow 4k@30hz or 1080p@120hz or 3D 1080p@60hz.  It is only qualified for 300Mhz for the entire pixel clock, so it is unlikely it be able to force 4k@60hz. Nothing can force HDMI 2.0. It's an entirely different chipset that both the source and the display have to be compliant with. The cable is still 1.4, though.
