Dose this cpu have a intergrated gpu?

No all current Ryzen R5 and R7 CPU's do not have integrated gpu's onboard, AMD AM4 based APU's those with Integrated gpu's won't be out until the 2nd half of this Year, but those will only be for mobile this year as far as we know. So anyone waiting for AMD's Ryzen based APU's this year for desktop systems will likely need to wait till early 2018.

Question 2

What is wrong with these people? ive read reviews and questions and some people are having many problems from no video to bent pins and motherboard incompatibility. One guy said nothing about a video card. Whats going on? not sure if i should buy this...

Not sure why the few Motherboard Incompatibilities are being listed given multiple cases of the combinations listed as working given the A320, B350, X370 boards are Ryzen boards and hence only work with Ryzen processors. So either A) the board is faulty or B) it was installed incorrectly this would be hard to pin down without looking at those setups to see what went wrong. I know one mentions bending pins during the install process. Not sure how they did this but I will say if you take the proper precautions and care this should be nearly impossible to accomplish. As for the no display issue who knows without having the setup but the most common part to cause this is the GPU itself not the CPU. So yeah. If they thought this CPU had a built in gpu.. Well it doesn't.

Now as for buying this Just remember the issues are a mere 2% of the reviewers which is a small portion of the owners. Among the owners the ones with issues are more likely to review the product. So with this I would say you are no more or less likely to have processor issues with an AMD processor than an Intel Processor. (Although the AMD processor is more likely to run Cooler :) )

Just remember to spend a decent amount of time looking for a good motherboard that fits your budget and needs. You are more likely to have a faulty motherboard, GPU, or powersupply than a faulty CPU.

Question 3

Does it at least include a Spire cooler? If so, what type? I'm not looking to Overclock so I'd probably just stick to the stock Spire cooler

Yes, it comes with the wraith spire. Unlike the 7 series, the stock cooler does NOT have an LED ring. The cooler is a standard heatsink with a pull fan.

Does this cpu have 3 real cores and 3 logical cores or does actually have 6 cores?

It is a true 6 core 12 thread CPU.  This isn't anything like AMDs previous Bulldozer architecture.  I have it and love it.  Works great for light video editing, streaming, and gaming, or whatever else you wanna do with it.

Question 5

Does this need a water cooling block if I want to turbo and overclock? I have heard you don't.

You dont need one. You can use the stock cooler for a nice 3.8ghz oc at 70c or so depending on the voltage. I recommend a nice tower air cooler for best reliability if you are concerned about noise, reliability, and temps. But the stock works just fine. I run 3.8 at 1.35v.

Will this processor work with this motherboard? MSI Z370 GAMING PLUS LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

No. If you look at the specs page on the motherboard, it clearly states that it's for an Intel processor Socket LGA 1151. The Ryzwn 5 1600 is made my Intel's competitor AMD and this CPU is totally different including the socket style. If you're interested in this processor, look for a motherboard that supports the Ryzen series socket AM4. The chipset you want is either B350 (mainstream gamer/productivity) or the x370 (enthusiast gaming/productivity). The X370 chipset is perhaps where you confused the x370 chipset from Intel based motherboards.  Hope this helps.

Will this handle VR on a vive with a R9 Nano or RX 480?

The Ryzen 5 1600 won't be what holds you back with VR it would be your graphics card.  This processor has more than enough horsepower to get your VR fix on.

will this work with AMD A320 motherboard?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All Ryzen CPUs are compatible with all Socket AM4 motherboards. The caveat with the A320 is that you cannot overclock the CPU and typically do not have higher quality VRMs and chipset features typically desired by heavy users such as gamers and content creators. Though you can technically game and create content with an A320 motherboard, I was mainly designed for office and internet usage in mind.

Question 9

Does installation with the pre-applied thermal interface material just require seating of the cooler on the CPU?  Or does it need to be moved around a bit to ensure a good interface with the CPU?  Thanks, 1st build in 5 years.

You can just seat it on the cooler, you do not need to move it around (in fact, that might create air bubbles, moving it around, so I'd avoid doing that).

what cooler is good to go with for this board and a 1600x?

Your question seems to be put on the wrong item as this is the Ryzen 5 1600. The 1600 comes with the Wraith Spire, which is a decent cooler. It is what I am currently using and find it keeps things cool just fine.

If going with a custom cooler, it seems the Cooler Master 212 is still one of the best for the price, if that size cooler can fit in the case.

Myself, I went for the 1600 as it has lower cost, only slightly lower clock, but is unlocked so it can reach the same potential as the 1600x, but since it comes with a cooler, and stock speeds suffice for my needs now, I will wait to swap coolers and overclock until the extra boost is needed.
