how many watts total allows?

This device is keyed for a 15 amp American outlet (NEMA 5-15P). Theoretically, it can support all of that power so at 120 volts, that would be 1800 watts. But that would require you to have absolutely nothing else on the circuit and circuit breakers aren't perfectly consistent. The joules rating given for this device is for arresting a power surge which is different from regular power usage.
