Can I connect this to a cable modem and a router at the same time? The modem is not wireless, so that is why I use a router.

Yes, the cable modem goes to the router the router to the Unifi AP. The AP will not work with the modem directly as it does not hand out IP addresses and the Modem will typically only hand out 1.
