Is this motherboard compatible with Windows 7 ?

YES:   it works with Windows 7 without major issues.   Even if you don't have the motherboard software CD, it is easy to find the drivers (just beware of web sites that try to install malware along the driver you want!).   For the price, it is perfect for anyone with unused licenses of Windows 7. The end-user will enjoy a stable platform, reasonably fast for general use (office and internet)  In my opinion, it fits the requirements to do the homework of a high-school student.  One more point: these motherboards are quiet, just find a quiet case and you will be happy.

Can it boot off SSD?

Sorry, I don't even have mine up and running yet. My old computer got zapped in an electrical storm (even though it was turned off, but plugged into a surge protector). I'd thought the ram was ddr3 1066 (a heat shield blocks reading it). Turns out it's ddr3 1600, so I have some ddr3 1066 on order, waiting for it to arrive.

Question 3

Hello.  I was wanting to know how many gigahertz the CPU clocks in.  I'm going to guess 1.8ghz due to the title of the board, but I didn't see anything on here that states it.  Could anyone tell me?

Windows 8.1 tells me that my ASRock D1800M's CPU is J1800@2.41 GHz. So, I guess that the answer to your question is 2.41ghz. Why that number? I have no idea. I did not overclock or screw with the board whatsoever.

Does this board require a fan? It did not have one when I got it out of the box.

No fan needed, it uses passive cooling. Just make sure your case has airflow, to dissipate any heat coming from the heatsink.

Sorry i though i was answering about the j1900 motherboard , this one is older and way outdated i wouod look at the newer boards with a j1900 cpu . Will last years longer

I haven't tried gaming directly with the PC I built using this motherboard - I use it as my HTPC. However, with Steam home streaming, I can stream games from my main desktop to this and play them, and it works quite well. If you're looking to build a gaming PC with this as your motherboard, though, based on performance with simple tasks (streaming to other devices with Plex) this is not going to be the motherboard for you. Smaller indie games may run fine on it, but probably nothing big and recent.

I bought it, but I never open the box. However base on it's spec , it support Kingston 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM ram, but each ram can not exceed 8GB.
