Can older devices connect to this router like a 6 year old laptop?

yes, I have a lenovo g-50 laptop. I had to download the newest intel driver support assistant and manually update the ac 3160 wifi adapter. the router was then recognized by the laptop.

Can you physically pop the antennas out to make sure it cannot put out any microwave radiation? For those who want cable only.

Accepted Answer

It never under any circumstances emits microwave radiation, that's not how this works.  Regardless, there is a setting you can use in that turns off all the radios.

Will this work with Century link?

If you’re thinking it’s going to plug in from the wall to the router. No, this is not going to replace a Century Link modem. However, using Century Link doesn’t limit you from using this router either. You still have to use their modem. (A plug from the wall to the modem to the router.) The Century Link modem would plug in to this router, and then you would shut off the Century link WIFI and use the ASUS WIFI in its stead. This ASUS WIFI router has a much larger coverage area.

Yes. There's a switch to toggle the SSID on or off of any of the networks individually. (2.4GHz, 5GHz, and guest networks)

how large of an area will this cover? I have a 2000 sq/ft, 2 story home.  With the router relatively centered in the dwelling will be able to get coverage throughout my home?

I have a similar sized house. The router is on the lower level near an outside wall and works just fine from the second floor on the opposite side of the house. It also works fine in the out building behind the house.
