can this motherboard be used in normal ATX desktop casing?

If you are holding the motherboard looking the component side of the motherboard and the external connectors (I/O shield location) are to the left - the motherboard extends about 1" past the standoff holes all along the right side. Your case would need space on that side for the motherboard AND the SATA cables that also come out from the right side.
