Will this work on a pc running windows 10??   it says it's for windows; but i'm not sure.

I used the T. Flight Hotas One for PC/Playstation on Windows 10 with Elite Dangerous without issue.

Elite: Dangerous is the current best example but Ace Combat 7 is coming out in 2018 and would be another option. Basically any flight related game that is compatible.

I'm thinking of buying this for my brother for Christmas. The question:  Is the joystick usable separate from the throttle?  One of the things he'll be doing with it is the old X-Wing games from the 90s, and I recall they don't respond to a throttle well, being designed for play with joystick and keyboard.  My X52 connects to the computer through the throttle section, so doing that with it isn't an option.

Unfortunately no, the joystick cannot be used separately from the throttle since they are connected via a cable that does not have detachable (via connector) ends.
