Will this hard drive fit into a older MacBook laptop?

One of my techs provided following info (paraphrased):

It would depend on the model of the Macbook - Apple is always changing what can and cannot be replaced in their machines.

Assuming the laptop is the right model that would allow for a swap, the replacement hard drive should work as long as it’s the smaller 2.5” size that fits in most laptops.

Is this an End of Life Hard drive?

Yes. The ones we had bought no longer have a WD warranty. The vendor says they will warranty but I have not had to do that yet so their ability to do so is unknown. This was from EOL Tech. Guess we know what EOL means!

Will this drive substitute for my old wd3200aajs WD cavier?

The actual question should be - will a SATA 3 drive work in place of a SATA 2....

That may depend on the mother board..... you might do well to chat with WD directly - I don't know that NewEgg can answer your question.

(from Wikipedia: Third-generation SATA interfaces run with a native transfer rate of 6.0 Gbit/s. The theoretical burst throughput of SATA 6.0 Gbit/s is double that of SATA revision 2.0. It is backward compatible with SATA 3 Gbit/s.

Which to me says: you can use either drive with a motherboard that can support the SATA 3rd generation..... but maybe not a SATA 3rd gen drive with an "older" motherboard.... Chat with WD and understand your motherboard specs.....
