can i use the software with this? because if Im installing it in the case do i have to keep opening the case to change colors plz help

NO, This is for systems that haven't upgraded to the newer mobo's that come integrated with RGB software like the newer mobos. I'm still happily running my 9590 with my 990FX Sabertooth mobo and doesn't support on-board RGB software.    YES you'll need to open the back side panel to get to it to change color and  pattern unless your can cut or fabricate it to where the button is on the outside then you're good.

i have i5 3470 processor with msi h61m motherboard...i was planing to get the coolermasterbox 5 rgb pc case but foundout that my motherboard doesn have rgb header to use the rgb fan of the masterbox 5...can i use this to connect the rgb fan of the masterbox?

Yes. For my GF i just connected this between all the fans and the psu. Then used the three way rgb splitter that came with the case to hook all the rgb lights up to it. Only thing that sucks is that you have to reopen the case to change settings.

Can you connect a Cooler Master RGB LED Strip and the Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB to one RGB Controller, or would i need to buy two?

Unfortunately it only has a single 4 pin RGB connector so you would need either a splitter or yes get another one. Thank you for the question.

What are the colors? Can you change it to just static purple?

Blue, Red, Green, Purple, Pink, and White I believe are all the colors that it had. And yes static purple is possible along with any of the other colors.

Will this connect with any mobo?

It does not use the mobo. It gets power from a 4 pin molex adapter and the rgb plugs directly into it.

Will this work with MasterFan MF120R RGB (NOT ARGB)?

From what I read alpha is just another color code and it won't know the difference. I used this on a RGB fan because I don't have RGB on my 990FX mobo. It should work and for the price you can't go too wrong.   Go for it!!

No, it only changes color, brightness, and lighting modes for 12v rgb lights.
