Question 1

These products are advertised as wireless. This makes no sense as there are several wires to the camera so If I locate it any where I have to string wires or if outside, drill holes and string wires. Do have any truly wireless cameras?

It is "wireless" in the sense that it connects wirelessly into an existing wifi network, as opposed to units requiring a wired network connection.

It still needs power, and comes with a power cube that has a 10 ft cable. The power cable must indeed be routed to the unit in order for it to function.

Running the power cable to the nearest AC outlet is arguably easier than running a network cable.

If it did not have this, it would require a battery, which, considering the features of the camera, would likely have to be replaced quite frequently.

It also has a provision for a wired ethernet connection. It is only necessary to use this connection during setup, which may be done before the unit is placed in its desired location.

Question 2

How does this do over wireless? Is the wireless connection reliable or should I look into doing a wired connection?

It does surprisingly well.  I have it on the second floor (router is on the first), and on the other side of the house.  The signal strength is full bars, but there is a couple second delay.  I think this is due to the processing of the 720p/maxed out picture I'm getting.  I'm sure if I dropped it down a little it wouldn't be so bad, but even my hard wired cameras have a slight delay so who knows...  I paid $1 for the ipad app (iPhone app is free) and it works well.

Use Outside in the weather?

I think this is only intended for Indoor. If you could put it into a clear housing to protect it but then you might have the issue of the LED lights bouncing off the glass back into the camera lens in night mode. Would like to try this enclosure to see if it would work to be able to use it for outdoor application with out the outdoor camera price.

Does include IRC (Infra-red Cut Out) capability which allows it to look outside without the sunshine blinding it?

Whether it includes it or not, when you look outside you are largely blinded by the sun.  BTW, this is a very persnickety and problematic product.  After you are forced to do a firmware update, which is anything but intuitive, it never works quite the same as it did before the update.

How does the Tilt and Pan work from your Smart Phone? I have 3 D-Link Cloud cams and they work great & want to get this model.

I don't have other Pan/Tilt cameras to compare with, but it does work - although tricky to control because of the lag.

Can any of the D-Link network cameras be set up to record video to an internal hard drive continuously?

It has a micro-SD slot and can record to a micro-sd card. A D-link DNR-202L mydlink Camera Video Recorder can be added to the system which can be configured to record continuously to an external USB hard drive. It may be possible to configure it to record to the hard drive on your computer. I have not personally tried any of this other than recording to the micro-SD card.

It's difficult to answer your question as the answer depends on how you wish to use it.  If you use D-Link's cloud access (mydlink dot com), then no to both questions.

Otherwise, most likely yes.  But, again, if you can be more specific with your question you might get a better answer.

According to specs sheet: 8 meter IR illumination distance for the B1 version. The A1 version was 5 meters.
