Does it support Windows xp?

Yes if Windows XP has all updates. I used it on an old laptop Sony with XP. No USB 3.0 however. WinXP is not supported anymore. Don't recommend for Win XP. It does not work with Win10. Promised updated drivers but ??? sure someday uknow. Best with Win7pro. It works on my son's gaming computer with Win 8.1.

Work with latest MacOS? How does it compare to other Mac recommended adapters?

I only use mine for testing at times for wlan services. Would not recommend for a daily driver on laptop, as I would prefer using internal wlan card. Need to also install software as its not native to the system.
