Does this allow putting all the drives in a single Raid 5 configuration?

Yes, you can set it up that way. That being said, I would NOT purchase again. Unit overheats, one of two blowers broke within a year and support from the company for replacement parts and repairs has been NON-EXISTANT!!! I would not buy again from this company!!!

can this be configured as 4 mirrored RAIDs?

Yes, the HighPoint RocketStor 6418TS can be configured in RAID 1, which is a mirrored RAID configuration.

What interface with the computer is used? My use is with a very robust laptop so I don't have access to a PCIe port. My ports are Thunderbolt 3/USB 3.1 and USB 3.0. I would prefer to use Thunderbolt 3, but I could use USB 3.1 although it is much slower. I do have a PCIe internal interface that my SSD is attached to, but I have no external access to that interface. Would I be able to connect with one of my external ports?

The interface with the computer used by the HighPoint RocketStor 6418TS is through Dual SFF-8088 Ports (Q-SATA).
