i have a HP7900 mini tower which has pc2 6400 ram in it. Can i replace it with the KTH-XW4400c6?

I don't remember for which HP computer I bought this memory. I do remember that I did put it in one of my older HP computers and it worked fine. Looking at the specs for your computer, it appears to have 4 memory slots - depending on how much memory you are planning on purchasing, you might be able to keep the existing memory (or some of it) installed. For example, if you currently have 1 or 2 memory slots filled with 256MB or 512MB each, and you buy 2 of the 1G memory boards, you could add the new memory to the existing and have 2.5GB or 3.0GB total. If you are using a 32-bit operating system, you should keep the total memory to 3.0GB or less.

will this work as a additional ram card for a compaq dc7800?

Mine was dc7700. Per Kingston, it should work on dc7800.
