Can I mount this backwards? The long flat piece against the stand? My Dell monitor has a vesa mounting area that is sunken in, not a flat surface for the big piece.

I have a couple of Dell ST2410B monitors. They don't have vesa mounts so I had to buy an adapter to convert the existing mount to vesa. That mount was set very low off center on the back so I bought 2 of these units so that my monitors would sit at the right height on my wall mounts. I did in fact have to put these on in reverse to accomplish that and they work perfectly fine.
