How are you supposed to use the rear panel plate that comes with your motherboard? The chassis I ordered has a rear panel plate that's riveted in.

It has a rear plate but it can be removed so you can use your mother rear panel. I got one and it came right off when I got ready to install my motherboard and I'm very happy with it my server running great.

Do these units allow rails to slide forward on or must they be fastened directly to the rack?

Hello, we have reserved 3 small holes on each of the two sides for installing the guide rail, but we cannot guarantee that they will align perfectly with the holes on the guide rail.
