Question 1

Can multiples of these cards work in one system?  I'd need at least 2 cards in mine.

1st these do work very good. I can't see why you couldn't use multiple but you can boot from them so for every 1 you add it is going to drasticly increase boot time. If you're plan is to run tons of hard drives on them i would highly recommend just picking up bigger drives instead as having that many drives will really hurt the machines overall performance

Question 3

Lost a SATA connect on motherboard for 2 optical drives.  Will this work to use it for these drives and will the card fit in a PCI Express slot?

Forgot I had this until your question. That's  good.
I run three WD RE4 terabyte drives in raid 0 with it.
it has been flawless. When I first installed it, the drives in raid ran as fast as any electonic drives out at the time with 12 times the data space.

So yeah. Get it, install it and forget about it. I would give it five stars.

The product description and specs refer to multiple external USB ports, but the photos show a blank panel. Anyone know what's going on?

That card has no USB ports it is four sata ports the card is 2x pcie. I believe bewegg mad a mistake I searched the part number on newwgg and it takes me to a 1x esata external / 1x sata internal that card your talking about has no external of any kind of connection

does anybody know if this support disks using uefi instead of mbr (disks above 2tb)? It doesn't explicitly say so that I can see so i wondered . thank you.

I can't tell you for certain if that is compatible with what you are interested in doing.  However, StarTech has some of the best technical support that I've ever encountered.  I would suggest that you call them on their toll-free line and pose your question directly to the "horse's mouth."

Has anyone used this in a system with Windows Server 2012R2?  Because I'm seeing some documentation it works on Server 2012.

I have it installed in Server 2012 R2, but it sporadically drops the Raid 10 offline and forces me to reboot to get it back. So far it's done this 100% of the time (5/5 times) while transferring data onto it for my initial setup. I have it a x16 slot and have reseated it twice. Not sure what the issue might be...

will the StarTech 4-Port PCI-Express SATA III 6Gbps RAID Controller Card Model PEXSAT34RH work in a MSI K8N motherboard and can I boot from the card?

I believe this adapter requires an "x2" slot.  The smallest PCI-e slot is "x1".  x2 has more connections, then x4 has more, x8... and x16 is the very long connector you generally see used for graphics adapters.

I use the card in my Gigabyte board, and I boot from it.  Of course, booting from it requires you load the driver (using F6) at install time.

Generally, any adapter that provides "HyperDuo" functionality -- optimizing a large mechanical drive with "buffering" from an SSD can boot.

What are some performance numbers people have seen with this? I would like to see a comparison of a single SSD benchline, compared to 2 or 4 of the same SSD in raid 0 in this card.

I am running this card in RAID 1 mode with Windows Server 2012 R2. I has been running strong and fast for over 3 years, 24x7.

I have NO benchmarks for you but I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
