Will this hard drive fit my toshiba satellite laptop ?

This 7mm tall drive will fit in any laptop made in the last 10 years, and in most laptops made in the 5 years before that (back to 2005).  Before 2005, some laptops had room for a 9mm tall drive.  If so, then make it thicker by applying 2mm of black electrical tape (4 or 5 layers) to the top of the drive near the edge farthest from the contacts, and near the other top edge just behind the connector shell.  (The reference point for the connector contacts is the bottom of the drive.)

Can this be used in a portable enclosure to be used as a portable drive?

In general yes, but you need the specifics on the enclosure, which needs to be a USB3 enclosure. SSD's can be fluky, have a sudden mishap, and lose their brains without any warning that they are going to die. We only use them as c drive, otherwise we use mechanical drives. The new mechanical drives do just about everything now as USB3, about 120 mbs. Electronic drives may be more shock tolerant though.

is a spacer included for laptop installations?

No spacer was included. The Dell Laptop had a bracket that bolted to this SSD and it installed like factory.

Will this SSD work in a relatively old Gateway DX4860-UB20P desktop?

It most likely will work, but the key is having updated drivers for your cpu and what operating system you're using.  Even so, if you're using windows 10 and getting along well with it, this SSD would likely function.  The question remaining would be if all drivers work without issue, will it perform to its specs.  At any rate, if you buy this and it won't work, you can return it forthwith to Newegg for a refund.  Make sure by first contacting Newegg and checking it all out.  Sorry I cannot be absolutely certain in answering your question.

Yes, and when you image, you want to image partitions up to the C: drive. Expand the C:, and then image the remaining partitions..if need be. Macrium reflect free is free and works perfectly. I use the usb3.0 to sata connector cable for the imaging process.

how do i get the "free downloadable software" as stated in the description.  No info came with it ???

Since it says "Do not include HTML Links", just do a Google Search for "WD SSD Dashboard" and pick the link that says "Software and Firmware Downloads | WD Support". It is basically the same software as the Sandisk Dashboard (Since Western Digital owns Sandisk now) Hope that helps

how do you copy the os to the ssd?
 is there software i can use?

I just installed it in the PC with the SATA Cables, and Installed the OS like I normally do. In this case, I already had a Windows 10 installation on a USB Drive so I just booted off the USB Drive and Installed Windows 10 to the SSD. Great Hard Drive. Excellent Quality. Very Fast.

Can I use Acronis cloning SW to clone my current non-WD HDD to WD WDS250G2B0A ?

Yes, I've used it on my own and one other successfully.  The WD version of Acronis will install if you have at least 1 Western Digital hard drive connected to your computer.

will this  work in Acer Aspire 8930 ?

Yes, since it is the same physical size as the hard drive, and the Acer is a SATA-I interface. The Drive is SATA-III but will work with SATA I, II or III interface. You do need to backup and restore the System Drive, and you should REDUCE the partition size of the hard drive Primary partition to be smaller than the SSD so a Backup and restore works correctly.

Short answer is no.
D R A M is Dynamic Random Access Memory is the Ram added to computers. It loses all it contains when the computer shuts down. DRAM cannot be added to a Solid State Drive. A Solid State Drive is a hard drive with no moving parts just memory. It retains what has been written to it till till erased and can be moved to another compatible computer.
