Does this printer print in color? I am not very versed in laser printers. Thanks!

No, it is a monochrome printer. It will scan color pictures and documents, which you can save to file.

Question 2

What's Included in the Package doesn't show the drum or the toner cartridge.  Those are included?

It is all complete for the printer itself.  It has the drum, toner - it may be a starter toner.  Newegg has great deals on toner!  Add paper, plug in and connect wirelessly and you are ready to go!  If you want to connect USB or Ethernet, you'll need your own cable.

Is the scan B or color?

It will scan color but only prints in black and white, since it only has a black toner cartridge.

Is it easy to connect the printer wirelessly?  Does the printer stay connected?  About four years ago I bought another Brother printer that was supposed to connect wirelessly with ease and it has never worked.

It is fairly easy to set up...just follow the directions provided.  However, you will need to connect your computer directly to the printer for a portion of the setup, and the cable needed is NOT provided with the printer. You will need to identify the appropriate type of cable prior to attempting the setup and have it on hand during the setup process...Good luck!

how much does the ink cost?  some of it is so expensive  which is a rip off

It's not an ink jet printer (it's a laser) so no ink rip-off.

Replacement toner cartridges run about $17-$18 for TN420 low capacity cartridges (1200 pages) and about double that for the TN450 high capacity version (2600 pages).

After about 35 - 40,000 pages, you need a new drum assembly, which runs about $67.

Can you save the output from the scanner (file) directly to a laptop wirelessly?

Yes, you can scan wirelessly ( without connecting a cable ). You will need the software that comes with the device. You can also download the software from brothers support website. the software is called ControlCenter4 and can be found on brothers website.

Does this printer print color pictures very well?

As this is a monochrome printer the conversion of your color picture to black & white would best be done in a program such as Adobe Photoshop® prior to printing (if you are concerned with how specific colors are rendered). If you merely want to make a print as a reference to a color image in your file or to proof the positioning, then it will work just fine as is.

Does this box include toner or need to buy separate ?

yes it comes with one cartridge.  it's pretty much ready to go.  it's a good unit and i would recommend it.  the major flaw is not being able to ignore the out or toner message.  it can still print fairly well for a whole bunch of pages after the message starts showing up on the screen very very very often.

I have a router that is a "N" series.  Will this printer work wirelessly?

Silly question but does this work with MacBooks?

Not silly at all. Yes it does. I suggest buying the next model up that has the multi-sheet paper feeder on top for scanning. This model the 2280dw, you have to scan each page one at a time. It will however save it as 1 pdf, etc.
