I have a Compaq CQ62 Laptop. Will this fit to replace the fried hard drive that is currently in the laptop?

A quick google search for the manual to your laptop should allow you to find the specs you need (NewEgg doesn't allow links in answers to questions).  Your CQ62 appears to be a SATA 1 laptop, so this SATA 2 drive should work fine as all newer SATA specs are backwards compatible.  The manual shows that you can use 2.5 inch hard drives with a height of up to 9.5mm, which is the height of this drive.  You should be fine installing this hard drive.

Will this hard drive work with a Gateway NV-53 series laptop?

Yes it will work but why not get a larger hard drive with faster spindle speed, like the Western Digital Scorpion 500GB Black series the runs at 7200 RPMs.  Any 2.5" SATA drive will fit, but SATA drives are cheap and larger ones are only a few dollars more. The Samsung is a good drive. It's warranted through Seagate, so I think it's the same as a Seagate drive of similar size with a Samsung label on in.

I have done a diagnostic on my laptop and it says there is no drive does that mean I need a new hard drive and will any brand be compatiable with A Dell laptop?

Either the Hard Drive has failed or the laptop's motherboard is setup wrong or has failed. Here are a few things to try.

1. If you can swap the hard drive with another drive. Does the laptop see the new hard drive, then SAMSUNG drive may have failed.

2. If the laptop doesn't see that new hard drive then there could be an issue with the BIOS settings or the laptop's motherboard could have failed.

3. If neither of those work, is there a way you can tested the hard drive in another machine to if works

I know there are a lot of "if" there. Elimination of what works and what doesn't, might help you solve the problem.

Yes. I bought this hard drive and I am currently using it in my Dell E6400. The E6400 and the E6410 can use the exact same hard drives.

Any drive that is 2.5" SATA 3.0GB/s that is 5400RPM or better. A 7200RPM will over better speeds but at a slightly shorter battery life if you are on the go a lot and it is under heavier use. A good choice is a one of the hybrid drives.
