Does this come with software to load windows 7?

No the hard drive doesnt come with any software.  You have to buy a windows license separately or use an existing license.

Question 2

Can I use a 6GB/SATA drive in an older system with the early version of SATA?
Also, is there any reason why I should not run a drive sold for "video surveillance" in a normal desktop PC?

Sata is sata. You can use any sata drive with any level of sata. The speed is limited by the bus Sata 1.0 = 150 MB/s, Sata 2.0 = 300 MB/s, Sata 3.0 = 600 MB/s, Sata 3.2 = 1969 MB/s

I purchased this same drive from Newegg to replace a defective drive. You will have no problem using this drive. Keep in mind if it is bare bones or OEM the box will contain only a drive. No cables, power cables, manual, nothing but the drive.

would this work well for gaming?

I bought this drive as the main drive for my business PC.  The main factor was reliability.  My system is on 24/7.  I back it up regularly but wanted to be as sure as I could that the drive would keep on working.  As to gaming, if there is a lot of disk access required by a game, this disk would provide pretty average performance.  If just used for game storage and loading, then it could be OK.  I'm not a gamer, but would think the most important factors are CPU cores and speed and video rendering.

Can this be used as a regular hard drive or is it only for surveillance? I know this is kind of a dumb question.

This can be used as a regular hard drive.  I use it in a desktop workstation for HD video editing and 3D animation so it can certainly be used in a "normal" home computer for regular uses.  Hope that helps.

will this hard drive work with my computer?

Not if you plan to install it internally. Laptops use 2.5 inch drives, this is a 3.5 inch DESKTOP hard drive. If you have an external enclosure to put it in that has an E-SATA or USB connection, then yes, it most likely WILL work.But most DEFINITELY it will NOT work internally in ANY brand of laptop. It simply won't fit. Too long AND much too thick to stick in a skinny little laptop case.

I would ask Dell for direct manufacturer compatibility, but based on the spec for the Dell T110:

Cabled Hard Drive Options: 
3.5" SAS (15K, 10K), nearline SAS (7.2K), SATA (7.2K)

It looks like it should work just fine.

Is this compatible with a QSEE DVR (qt228-5 model)? Need to replace original hard drive....

Scratch my previous answer, misread the question, it should work fine as a replacement drive as long as there is a procedure for copying the operating system.

How does this drive work with an external raid enclosure; raid 0, raid 1?

Raid is stripping between multiple drives and no redundancy.  Raid 1 is a mirror between 2 drives - if 1 fails, the other is an exact duplicate.

You'll want to use the same drives in either raid configuration.

Has anyone used this drive in a TIVO unit? Is it compatible, work well with TIVO?
