does it come with software to transfer my data from hard drive im replacing?

The HDD did not come with any software. If your looking to tranfer personal data; you can just use the ol copy and paste. If this is your system drive and you want to transfer your whole system over you will need additional software to clone the drive or do a system image restore.Furthermore, depending on your your system you may need a USB adapter of some sort for your drive. It is not as complicated as I may make it seem. Tomshardware has a forum that can answer most if not all of your question. Use the search box and  try: clone system drive, transfer os, system image restore, or some variation of those phrases. Hope this was of help.

Question 2

Help! I'm unable to initialize my newly bought out of the package hard drive. The hard drive comes up as unknown and I get the error "Incorrect Function" whenever I attempt to initialize it as MBR or GPT I get the same error. I downloaded CrystalDiskInfo to see if my computer is able to detect the hard drive. The drive show up but is listed with 4,294,967.2 GB available. It has happened with the past 2 that I have gotten, 2 very not useful paper weights. I simply want to know if other people have successfully gotten their drive started and want to know how. Do any of you know how to solve my problem?

I installed my Toshiba 3-TB drive in new build about 18 months ago - Intel 4930K, Win 7 Home Prem, Gigabyte X79-UD3 MB, with SSD, two spindle drives & BDR optical drive.  I had no negative issues with the Toshiba drive - either during installation or over the last 18-months.  You did not mention any details about your system except for using CrystalDiskInfo to obtain a value that can't be correct as you mentioned it.  I have read that some systems require additional driver software if you are planning on installing drives equal to or greater than 3-TB in size - I would check into this as a possible cause.

Well, a harddrive is a harddrive is a harddrive for the most part.
I use these in my NAS (Network Accessible Storage) units...
And they do quite well.
I researched and these were rated as highly dependable...

I should think this would work in any desktop computer using standard sized harddrives...

Is 48 deg.C. operating Temp. TOO high for continuous Operations? 
After Pwr-ON, the "DT01ACA300" steadily ramps up to 49deg.C. in ~90mins. 
The HDD stays at that temp with or W/O disk activity.
Are my concerns justified? 
-- Also, when first powered-ON, I hear 2-clicks AND finally, 
-- I notice some rotational-vibration as in out of balance. 
 _ Is this one "BAD / defective"?

You absolutely could use as an external drive. I recommend picking up a hard drive enclosure, pop the drive in and you're good to go. Just plug and play.

Received my package from Cyber Monday and wanted to ask everyone is it normal for all three individual brand new Toshiba 3TB drive to be clicking, grinding or beeping brand new out of the box?

I have been attempting to troubleshoot this problem for 24hrs with limited progress.  I am running a fully updated and patched version of Windows 7 x64 as of 12.08.2013

Problem:

Device Manager is not recognizing the device. I've flashed and updated the manufactures BIOS.  This allowed me to format one of the three drives, but with errors.  All three drives are making the same loud clicking, grinding, beeping noise.  Only one of my three hard drives managed to format successfully using the NTFS default wizard.  However the maximum partition displayed is 756 GB.  I attempted to connect the drive internally and externally using a SATA 3G or USB 2.0 connection.

I'm now thinking of ordering a 6G eSATA PCI-E adapter card as a possible solution.  I would appreciate any new egg community advice or suggestions on what you would do next if you were in my shoes, thanks.

Definitely not normal, some hard drives will make an occasional noise depending on the manufacturer. But regular noises like you describe are not normal, you got a bad batch of drives it sounds like. That would be incredibly rare so the only other possible problem is that the drives aren't getting enough power to fully spin up which could cause them to make noises like that.

Is it compatible with SATA II?

Very satisfied with this HD.  Yes, I am running it off a SATA 2 port.  
I have had no problem with the HD once I figured out that it should be set up as a GPT Partition rather than an MBR type.  Once properly set up and formatted, the drive has worked perfectly on my SATA 2 port.

What is the platter size of this disk?

I may not understand what you are asking, but this is a 3.5 inch drive.

I have four of them setup using Freenas to create a RaidZ and I'm using a
120GB SSD drive for my write cache.

I've had two of the drives for a few months, and the other two in the past month.

Can I use this hard drive on DVR systems?

I'm not to familiar with DVR systems; however, I know that this should be able to be used on anything with a SATA interface. So as long as the DVR system doesn't require a HDD with PATA interface I don't see why it wouldn't work. In case you need to know the difference you can just google search SATA cable, and PATA cable, and see what they look like. PATA looks like a fat usually gray ribbon. PATA is thinner and usually red or black. Hope this Helps!
