comes with A/C power. It supports POE but you have to supply the POE injector or connect to a POE switch.

Is a POE injector required to make this unit work?

You can use a POE switch or injector. But you can also use local power (PoE or External 12VDC / 1.5A Power Supply). It does come with the 12VDC adapter in the box.

Is it version 3 or version 1?

Printed on the device label it says version 1.2. The Linux kernel version is 3.3.8.
