Any monitor you choose can be put any direction, you just need to go into (for Windows 7) >> Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution

then select the monitor you want to change orientation on and set the orientation to portrait or portrait flipped.

You will however, have to get a versa mount of some kind; the default stand on this unit is a static mount

I should have looked at the pictures before I asked the question. I have an adapter VGA-DVI however my internal Blu-Ray drive requires a digital connection for playback so an adapter will not do the trick. Will browse more. Shame too, Viewsonic makes great monitors.

Yes - that's what I use it with - don't be discouraged if it doesn't light up right away. Sometimes I have to restart or powermdown and up againt to get it to light up. Be sure you install the driver. You can download it from the Viewsonic site.

As a secondary monitor you will need to purchase a VGA to USB adapter (http://www.newegg.com/USB-Display-Adapters/SubCategory/ID-3046). As long as you have a fairly current OS running you should be good to go.

Slides right into a slot in the back with a screw in the base to the upright. Very easy to assemble.
