Question 1

These are fake right? Hitachi doesn't even make these any more. Why is New Egg selling counterfeit crap from China now?

As far as I can tell, this is the real Hitachi item - the weight and construction compares to the older one I have.  I did buy one on the famous action site which WAS obviously a fake, although the package graphics were good (I returned it for credit).  This is supposedly a newer model, the discontinued model is supposedly the HV 250.

Can you guarantee me that this is the Hitachi?

The one that we received did not have Hitachi written anywhere on it. However, it has been in regular use for a while now, and hasn't had any problems. The company name that is on the label on the wand itself is Intertek. If you do a google search for Hitachi and Intertek, you'll find a lot of articles relating the two, so even going as far as to suggest that Hitachi no longer puts their own name on the wand. At the end of the day, I can attest to the fact that it is quite an effective and reliable device whether it was made by Hitachi or not.

Question 3

So, having read the earlier answers on it's light weight, this sounds like it's a counterfeit.  Does Newegg have a definitive answer on this?

Not a counterfeit.  But I will say my wife has had two of these and the first one I took apart only to see black dust and a motor on its way out.

I don't remember how long my wife owned the first one but as you might think it won't last the test of time.

Question 4

The specifications here say 20 / 24 Watts for the motor.  Other sites show the HV260 as having a 10 Watt motor (the Hitachi HV250R has a 20/24 Watt DC motor).  Have you verified the specifications here, or did you cut-and-paste from the HV250R specifications?

The one I purchased from Newegg about a year ago (December 2012) is the real Hitachi brand Magic Wand and on the end where the cord goes in it says:
110-120V  60Hz
20W  25 MIN.
Massager HV-250R

It is as great as everyone says :)

Question 5

I was under the impression the weight of this is a little over 1lb 1oz but my shipping weight is .8 from fedx what gives?

I have never done business with Roe Dok but it sounds Chinese. I learned the hard way not to do business with the Chinese vendors. It was almost enough to make me move all my business to A**zon. They may have fakes. But if you buy from Newegg I would trust them also they would give you no problems with a return if suspicious about your product.

Question 6

I used the link supplied by newegg for "product manufacturer", and on their site it says 10 watt.  Newegg  product specifications state 20 watt and 24 watt.  Since so many people talk about how the older model had 20 watt and the newer one has 10 watt, thus heats up quicker, and not as powerful,  I was hoping someone could clarify how Newegg could have a more powerful one, if the specifications are true, and why the link to the manufacturer's site says only 10 watt?
