So had this for a couple of weeks now. I had a couple of Drobo FS units utilizing WD drives that have been going strong for over 10 years, until one of them died a quiet death during the middle of the night. The drives were fine, but the Drobo unit itself died. So, I bit the bullet and bought a Synology DS-1821+ with a single 14TB Iron Wolf Pro (large enough to hold what was on the Drobo) and started the arduous task of transferring everything over. While a single drive in the NAS doesn't give me redundancy, the two items were $1500+ so I had to stay on budget. I won't get into speed, or anything like that - a good deal of that depends on the NAS and network itself and Synology is hard to beat. However, I can say there hasn't been a single error, no bad blocks and the drive seems to run cool and quiet. Current plans are to fill up the rest of the 7 bays with 14TB Iron Wolf Pro Twins as I can afford to and move everthing from the other Drobo before it dies. If history to this point repeats itself, I plan a long and healthy life with these drives. As usual, New Egg the retailer is excellent as allways!

Solid read and write performance and a big step up from my previous 1 TB drives.

No issues. Is doing what I bought it for.

solid construction. strong case worked well while it worked
