Fast setup. Nice size. Works well with Macs and PCs if formatted correctly before using.

I was a little leery about buying this, having been burned in times past, but I'm happy to report it does exactly what it says: Makes a true SAS hard drive visible via USB. I tested it under Linux (Kubuntu 24.04 LTS), with an old HP 146GB 2.5" drive, and experimented with both wxHexEditor and the standard Linux partition editor. I was able to, with the hex editor, literally step through every sector/byte on the drive and easily alter or search. This is a Great Thing for file recovery and similar disk forensics. As far as the partition editor goes, I was able to create a standard FAT32 partition on the SAS disk and write/read files on it. Was it the fastest thing on the planet? Of course not. You're going through the overhead of a USB port plus the USB-to-SAS bridge circuitry. But it WORKED!

The case holds the 3.5" HDD's nicely. I store the drives in ESD bags and the bags in the slots and it works well

* Very simple to set up and get working * Surprisingly nice packaging (especially at this price-point) * Fairly complete packaging with multiple cable options

- Simple and easy to use. - Small footprint. - Multiple connection options.

Looks good, Fit is Very Good

I have had other HDD drives fail so I switched to SSD, but I wanted a sturdy case. I have owned a LaCIE Rugged drive but found it really expensive (although durable). I thought I would try building one myself and this case is terrific. Insertion is really easy and requires no tools. It even comes with extra foam to make sure the drive is snug inside. Basically, it's a water-tight case that clips closed and then you put the silicone rubber bumper on. The other reviewer is right--it's not svelte, but I bought this case so it would protect my data. I would guess in order to be waterproof, you would have to make sure the rubber closure over the USB port is closed. Even if it did get in, would it damage the hard drive or just the connections to the case? I don't know. Anyway, no problems with it so far with a Samsung 500GB SSD in place. I love this drive enclosure. It comes with a USB 3.0 cable that seems quite sturdy and stable as well.

-Easy to install -Comes with thermal pads which seem to be decent -Good read and write speeds.

This is the third one of these that I have purchased. I haven't had a single issue and I'm very happy with the quality of the product.
