Doing LLM training and needed to use a 35TB training file and 3TB validation file. Used 3 of these drives to create a RAID 0 drive with approx 54TB capacity. (this is on Ubuntu and formatted with XFS file system since usual EXT4 tops out at about 16TB file size.) Works great and much faster than a single drive would be due to the striping of RAID 0.

Purchased another refurb HP DC7900 SFF for a customer who didn't want Windows 8. It came with a heavily used 750GB HDD. Ordered this one to pair with it in RAID1. The day before deployment the old drive failed with this one still running. It ran quick and things were very responsive. Received a replacement drive from the seller of the computer (heavily used of course) and rebuilt the array. Glad to have this drive in there for when the old one dies.

I bought this basically just to install and play my games from and I'm very happy with my purchase. Its fast and very quiet which is a plus.

This is a very fast drive with a 7,200 RPM spindle speed. I benchmarked the drive compared to another 3 TB drive from a different manufacturer with a 5,400 RPM spindle speed. Both drives were freshly formatted prior to this testing. The Barracuda's sequential read tested at 191 MB/s, compared to 114 MB/s for the 5,400 RPM drive. The Barracuda's sequential write tested at 99 MB/s , compared to 79 MB/s for the 5,400 RPM drive. In real world testing, I tested copy speed for a 6.36 GB folder with 745 files, both to and from SSD. Each test was performed three times and the results were averaged: Time to copy from SSD to Barracuda was 62 seconds. Time to copy from SSD to 5,400 RPM drive was 69 seconds. Time to copy from Barracuda to SSD was 36 seconds. Time to copy from 5,400 RPM drive to SSD was 60 seconds. Thus, in real-world testing, the Seagate Barracuda drive was 11% faster on writes and a blazing 67% faster on reads than a competitor's 5,400 RPM drive. Seagate has a two-year warranty on the drive.

I have four camera servers running 24/7 three of which have been running for longer than 10 years. I have been through a lot of hard drives and hardware over the years. I added the fourth server recently using a Geovision GV600-16 CH PCIE card. So between the four servers at home and work, I currently record 21 cameras 24/7 on to my server's hards drives. All the cameras are live online and I view them where ever I go. If I want to work some more, I have the capability of adding seven more analog cameras to the Geovision GV 600. In addition I have several IP cameras up and recording. I do all this myself folks. I live in a world surrounded by live surveillance cameras. I'll be installing theWD Purple 2 TB sureveillance drive in a bit older AMD Quad core computer recording from a Lorex QLR460 PCI card using four Analog BNC type cameras. I currently have a single WD WD2003FYPS 2TB 5400 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 3 installed and recording surveillance video on the that computer . What I really wanted to see when I installed the WD Purple 2TB drive into my AMD quad core camera server was the performance of the drive when accessing playback and viewing recorded video using the recording software installed with the Lorex PCI card. Could the WD Purple perform better and solve a problem I had been experiencing when accessing and viewing recorded video through my software? I had my hopes up. Over the years, I often had issues with the system locking or losing the recorded video feed from the hard drive while I was reviewing and making DVD's of bad guys doing what they do. The software will freeze up during playback of recorded video. The computer has 6 GB of DDR3, an SSD OS drive and an Nvidia 8600GT video card,. The new WD 2TB Purple is connected by an onboard SATA3 controller, so I am not able to benefit from the drive's SATA6 transfer rates with this system. I thought maybe this WD Purple may solve some of the playback performance problems. I am having. After recording some surveillance video to the WD surveillance 2TB edition, I was able to review the video at it's highest resolution with the recorder's software and go both forward and backward at enhanced speeds. I tested like this for a while with success, but when switching cameras I still experienced a 'loss of data' error message at times while attempting to review recorded footage through the camera servers software. The problem could be due to the software's fast forward/ fast reverse being just too fast. Like when you used to rewind a VHS tape only to find it had self destructed while being flung through the motions by a super-speed VHS re-winder resembling a Porshe . I had more than one of those when I used to use VHS tapes to record my surveillance cameras. So, my idea of the new drive alleviating my reviewing failure issues was crushed. It was all hopeful thinking on my part. Results of a couple of synthetic benchmark speed tests on the WD Purple 2TB: ATTO Disk Benchmark: Avg. Read: 146 MB/sec. Avg. Write: 147 MB/sec. CrystalDiskMark: Avg. Read: 141 MB/sec. Avg. Write : 140 MB/sec. These are really impressive transfer rates considering the drive is installed on a SATA3 controller. The drive was not close to being half full at the time of the tests.

Got this computer up and running with this hard drive - got it for another computer and than the hard drive crashed on this one ( IT WAS A mediamax ) just quit !!
