My original plan was to use this External DVD player for transferring all my information from one computer to another (new) one. There are so many programs out there that say they can do it, but I haven't seen a good one yet. Until I can afford another computer, I'm using this as a back-up for everything and it gives me peace of mind. Secondly, since my laptop doesn't have a DVD drive, it's perfect for when I purchase software programs to download. Of course you can download them online but when the software is expensive, I would rather have the disk itself.
