I use this HDD as a backup for my Acer Aspire V5 notebook. It's a 7mm and thats what I needed to fit. When I bought the HDD it was on sale for $54.99. A day later this same drive came out with a promo code for another $10 off. The drive performed very well when I tested it in my HP Pavilion g7-1150us. Windows 7 x64 Ultimate installed very fast as well as boot up times. I also tested the drive on several external enclosures and SATA/USB adapters and all recognized the drive with no problems. Even through USB the speed/write times were excellent. I did tests copying folders with tons of files as well as single large image backup files. The drive is thin, and also very quiet. The thickness may be something to consider before purchasing the drive as it may not fit correctly or tightly in enclosures or adapters on older laptops. For me, it installed fine on my g7. The benchmarks were able to beat my Hitachi HTS547564A9E384 by an average of 20 MB/s on both read and write. See other thoughts for Benchmarks. This is a great performing drive by Seagate and I highly recommend it.

Good Price for storage amount Fairly quiet Stays Cool It’s been working reliably for about 6 months. Under very heavy usage it gets up to 40 degrees C, that’s good for the tiny box it’s crammed in. Under normal load the temp is around 32 degrees C.
