Currently maintaining 70-80 MBPS transferring 6 different 50 GB+ folders. Excellent transfer rate, and the packaging was in fact also EXCELLENT. Significantly better protected than my more expensive SSD drive that shipped with it. Feel confident even if this fell off the conveyor at UPS it would be fine.(not so for the Patriot Pyro - it would have been irreparably damaged) Also the shipping was stupid fast..... I was caught completely by surprise.(in the most pleasant way possible - early item arrival)

3/3/16 Update: Bought a second one for my Daughters Macbook Pro MD101LL/A (mid 2012) Again cut the boot up time in half. Replaced a 5400RPM 8MB cache drive. Cut my boot time by half and I can tell and increase in Laptop speed.

Size and performance are great. I installed in my 2007 MBP (2.16ghz) replacing the original 120GB drive. So far, performance is very impressive. My boot times went down from 1:35.2 down to 42.1! It took a couple reboots for the drive to optimize, but I am now definitely 'feeling' the performance. It has definitely breathed new life into my 5 year old Macbook Pro. The drive is silent and vibration free. The computer seems to be running just a couple of degrees warmer (according iStat Menus) but the difference is hardly worth mentioning.

Laptop hard drive at 7200rpms and 500GB. The wife is extremely pleased that I was able to move all her stuff from her faulty HDD. It loads quite nicely especially for a laptop that was used to having a 5400 rpm drive.

Have purchased 5 of them exclusively for boot drives. Purchased them for business hence they do not show up on my personal account. They are quite awesome for a boot drive (read other...) No problems with the Raptors what so ever, no bad sectors, not DOA, all work as expected. All passed my rigorous 24h stress test with flying colors...! I torture new mechanical drives with 'butterfly' reads/writes for 24h, then run extended surface scans before declaring them good to use for production.

Good enough for business purpose.. Relatively quiet, and not much warm.

Cant really go wrong with samsung and the price was good for the size of the drive

698gb as expected after formatting. Using in a Windows 7 tablet. Replaced a measly 120gb drive. Love the extra space! Avoid problems and let Windows setup partition the drive instead of doing it by hand. Does not run hot. Samsung drives have a good reputation for running relatively cool.
